Phoenix (3TV/CBS 5) – Another cool start to the morning with a minimum temperature of 41 degrees at Sky Harbor. A little warmer in some areas, depending on the cloud cover this morning. A high of 61 degrees is expected this afternoon, 5 degrees below average.
The skies will start clearing tonight and temperatures could drop below freezing across the desert tonight and tomorrow morning. Due to the low temperature tomorrow morning, the first warning has been issued. The U.S. National Weather Service issued a freeze warning for Saturday morning covering the southern and western Phoenix area. Lows in the 30s are widening, so pack your bags if you’re heading out tomorrow.
The freezing threat is expected to abate from Saturday onwards as nighttime temperatures tend to warm slightly each day. In fact, by next Friday, temperatures will be near normal, with highs in the high 60s. So far, it looks like pretty good weather for a big holiday weekend with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the mid-60s.
