Phoenix (3TV/CBS 5) – It’s going to be another cold night in Arizona. A freeze/hard freeze warning was issued for parts of Pinal and La Paz counties southeast of the valley heading into Sunday morning. We are the first to warn of low temperatures in the 30s across much of Metro Phoenix from today until at least Tuesday. This can be the coldest night.
A low pressure system will pass over the area late Sunday through Monday. This brings strong winds to areas such as Lake Havasu City in southwestern Arizona. Rain and snow are possible, mainly in the highlands of the state. By Monday afternoon, one to three inches of clouds could be seen in northern and eastern Arizona. Expect cooler temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, with all desert locations in the 30s, if not cooler.
Daytime highs are also much cooler than normal for this time of year. The average high is 68 degrees Celsius, and temperatures will stay in the 50s through at least Wednesday. Once this system passes, we’ll see a dry, gradual warming trend by the end of the weekend. Temperatures will be in the mid-60s heading into next weekend.
