Emmanuel Macron Suing Candice Owens
French President Emmanuel Macron has initiated legal proceedings against Candice Owens, a conservative media figure, following her repeated assertions about his wife, Brigitte Macron, according to a court document released on Wednesday.
Macron’s lawsuit, filed in Delaware Superior Court, alleges that Owens has caused fear for both him and his wife. Owens previously claimed that he would “bet” in 2024 over the notion that Brigitte Macron is actually a man.
This controversy has roots in an eight-part video series released by Owens earlier this year, titled “Become Bridget,” which purported to expose the true gender of Mrs. Macron.
The lawsuit describes Owens’ claims as bizarre and accusatory, suggesting that Mrs. Macron has been masquerading under a false identity. It states, “To these strange, honorable, overstated fiction, Mrs. Macron has moved to be born, stealing the identity of others, becoming Bridget, fraud, and abuse of authority to hide these secrets.”
After reaching out to Owens with evidence refuting her claims, Macron alleges that she ignored his outreach. He argues that her statements have inflicted “great damage” on their reputations, pointing out that Owens has engaged in what he describes as a “global campaign of humiliation” that turns their lives into fodder for profit-driven lies.
Owens, who had previously hosted a show on Daily Wire, ended her association with the network in 2024 after several conflicts, including disagreements with fellow contributor Ben Shapiro regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict. Since her departure, she has remained independent, gathering a substantial following on platforms like X and YouTube.
As of now, Owens’ legal representatives have not provided any comments regarding the situation.
