“A lot of little joys are the essence of happiness.” Terry Cahill Frost died March 2, 2023 after living a long and wonderful life. Terry was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Jack and Sue Cahill, making her the third of five children. As a child, she enjoyed the outdoors on her family farm in Leesburg, Missouri, where she developed her love of learning and a deep respect and appreciation for nature. This love of her for her learning brought her to the University of Kansas, where she studied primary and special education. It was here that she met her husband Mark on a blind date. Mark says he knew Terry was “The One” because of her enchanting blue eyes, charming smile, and kind heart. Together they moved to Tucson, Arizona. , where Terry continued his education studies and earned a master’s degree in education for the deaf from the University of Arizona. In Tucson, Marc and Terry started a family and stayed to raise their two daughters, Megan and Carla. Terry was able to return to the classroom and raise her children at the same time, teaching grit, resilience, strength and empathy to both her daughter and her students. He has been teaching elementary schools for over a year, stimulating curiosity, creative thinking and joy in his students. After retiring from her ASDB, Terry continued her educator career and she became a volunteer naturalist for her Kindergarten program at Sabino Her Canyon, channeling her love of nature to Tucson. I shared it with my middle school students. She was the perfect patchwork of enthusiasm and perseverance, blue eyes and a smile that ignited 47 years of marriage. We wanted eternity, but embraced her love…a familiar hummingbird or cardinal. She hand-stitched the quilts of treasure hunts and conversations, compassion and education that we are forever wrapped in. Terry is survived by her husband Mark. her daughters, Megan and Kara; Her grandchildren, Brandon, Nora and Tova. Her sister Christy (Doc) and her brothers Jack (Sally), Mike (Kathy), Patrick (Yoko), and many nieces and nephews. To honor her memory of her Terry, Sabino will host an event celebrating her life on October 8, 2023 at her Canyon Recreation her area Cactus Ramada.
