On Friday, Grand Canyon Track and Field returns to Flagstaff for the Lumberjack Team Challenge.
Returning to Northern Arizona’s walk-up SkyDome, field events begin at 2 p.m., and running events begin at 4 p.m.
Lopez will compete in North this week with a much smaller squad than last week’s tournament, which had more than 90 athletes.
“We’re going to send a smaller group, primarily throwers and jumpers, to this week’s NAU meet,” Lopez head coach Tom Flood said. “The majority of our sprint and hurdle groups will be training throughout this week and preparing for bigger competitions in the coming weeks.”
After his success in the 60 meter hurdles from his senior last week; cam wilmingtona sophomore transfer who set a new personal best and was named WAC Male Track Athlete of the Week. Francisco Marquez He will be making his GCU debut.
“I’m excited to finally see Francisco make his season debut in the 60 meter hurdles,” Flood said. “He had a great fall and was in great shape in training.”
After participating in Friday’s tournament, GCU will head to Albuquerque for next weekend’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational Tournament.
