We are very pleased to announce that the Graham County – Gira Valley Arts Council will once again host a performing arts season for the 2022-2023 school year.

Founded in 1985, its mission is to promote, support and sponsor the performing arts in Southeast Arizona through school residency programs and performances. Its focus is to acquire professional artists from classical, world, folk, and jazz.

Classical guitarist duo de Loro perform a mix of flamenco and Slavic influences.

GVAC not only brings artists to our valley, visits our schools and puts on special daytime shows just for children, but also conducts educational workshops in as many music rooms as possible. To do. GVAC is all about educating children. The evening performances for the general public were excellent and the money we received was enough to cover the cost of having the artist stay with her for an extra day or two to work with school children. Really helpful.

The Gira Valley Arts Council thanks the Arizona Community Foundation of Gira Valley, United Way Graham County, Western State Arts Federation (WESTAF), Arizona Arts Commission, Eastern Arizona College, and Freeport McMorran Corporation.

GVAC also relies on support from community members, many of whom subscribe to season tickets through our Support Membership Program. After the postponement of the previous season, last season was certainly a welcome one.

We had a great turnout for the evening concert and saw quite a few new faces in the audience. The school also provided new support at every event. The children who came to the bus stop in the morning came in excited with sunny faces. I can tell you that the kids were so happy to get back to normal things like being with friends and attending events inside the amazing David M. Player Center for the Arts. There was excitement in the air.
