Former Alabama Crimson Tide player, NFL star, and now former U.S. House candidate Wallace Gilberry is running against former state Sen. Dick in the 2024 Republican primary for Alabama's 2nd Congressional District. I supported Brewbaker.
In his endorsement, Gilberry said Brewbaker was the “obvious choice” to represent District 2.
“Dick Brubaker is a man of his word. He told the people of his Senate district that he would only serve two terms, and he did it!” Gilberry said in a statement. Stated.

“Dick Brubaker told me that he would stand up to anyone to protect not just our families and the value of our dollar, but to protect Alabama's dollars and bring back the resources we need. We know he will when he says he will. That's the kind of person I want to represent my family in Congress, and the kind of person our district, state, and country needs. He is a leader.”
The two men said they share common goals: reducing inflation, lowering the cost of food and gas for Alabama families, securing the southern border and increasing penalties for drug dealers and human traffickers.
“He is the only candidate we can trust to put the people of Alabama first,” Gilberry promised. “Dick's priorities are our priorities, and we can achieve them by working together. I support him wholeheartedly.”
Brewbaker, a state senator who represented Pike Road in the Senate from 2010 to 2018 after serving two terms in the House, thanked Gilberry for his support.
“I'm honored and humbled to have Mr. Wallace's endorsement, but more importantly his friendship and desire to work together to solve the problems we face as a nation,” said former state Sen. the lawmaker said. “We stand for freedom, security, and limited government, and we will work with the people of this district to achieve our common goals.”
The Republican primary will be held on March 5, 2024.
