A Golden Valley man who harmed his girlfriend’s baby has struck a plea deal to be sent to the Arizona Department of Corrections. Matthew Brown, 24, was convicted of two counts reduced to attempted child abuse.
The plea bargain dismissed one count each of minor assault and aggravated assault charges.
The Mojave County Sheriff’s Office investigation began in April 2022, when the department announced that an 18-month-old boy was being treated at Kingman Regional Medical Center for injuries associated with severe physical and sexual abuse. bottom. Mojave County Deputy Attorney Amanda Clairhaut further elaborated on Brown’s injury during a June 21 change of plea.
Judge Billy Sipe asked the defendant, “Do you agree with what the prosecutor said?”
“Yes,” Brown replied quietly.
The terms of the contract mandate five to ten years in prison. Judge Billy Sipe is also scheduled to order a post-prison probation period at a sentencing hearing on July 31.
