Good Morning: ADOT: Avoid the roads in Northern Arizona | Lifestyle

Lake Havasu City residents planning a weekend trip to northern Arizona should prepare for winter weather conditions that will impact their trip. Recent snowfall, including a rare snowfall in Kingman yesterday, has resulted in multiple highway closures across the region, according to a report from the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Significant road closures include northbound Interstate 17 at State Route 179, several sections of Interstate 40, and other major routes. These closures may impact anyone traveling through or to Northern Arizona, so it is imperative that you reconsider your travel plans and/or prepare for possible delays.

ADOT advises interstate travel to use southern routes such as I-10 and I-8 to avoid affected areas. Snow plows continue to clear roads, but with more winter weather expected, safety remains our top priority. Drivers should be reminded not to tailgate snowplows and to equip their vehicles with emergency kits if they must travel.

For Lake Havasu City residents, this weekend may be a good time to enjoy local attractions or plan a southern adventure while avoiding the winter weather that affects our northern neighbors . Stay safe, stay warm, and heed travel advisories if you go out.
