Lake Havasu City residents have a unique opportunity to learn about a pivotal chapter in local Native American history. The Colorado River Indian Tribal Library Archives in Parker will host a special presentation on the local Trail of Tears, led by the Peach Springs Hualapai Cultural Resources Department. The event, scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m., promises an enlightening experience through PowerPoint presentations and Q&A sessions with Loveena Katahomigie, Stering Selana, Lyndee Hornell, and Jorigine Paya.
This presentation explores the horrific conditions under which hundreds of Hualapai were forced to relocate to the Colorado River Indian Reservation in 1874, highlighting their struggle and resilience. Participants will also learn about the annual Hualapai-La Paz Trail of Tears Run, which commemorates the return of survivors to their homeland.
This event, held at the library at Second and Mojave Road in Parker, provides Lake Havasu City residents with an opportunity to explore the history that shapes our region.
