We had a lively discussion at last week’s study session, listening to a presentation from the Mayors’ Charter Review Committee on the November 7, 2023 General Election Ballot Amendment.
Several charter amendments have been proposed. Congress plans to discuss the bill again at its June 27 voting meeting. We will decide which amendments will appear on the general election ballot and possibly tweak the wording of the ballot.
We strongly encourage you to read and carefully consider these proposed amendments. I have provided a link below.
Dule Fire Chief also spoke about the Fire Adaptive Communities (FAC) framework to raise awareness of the need for a more holistic approach to living and thriving at the intersection of wilderness and city.
For efforts such as building community partnerships, expanding the scope of educational activities, conducting fire adaptation area pathway assessments, developing 3- to 5-year wildfire mitigation plans, and implementing key policies and key policies, Drew said: I have explained why it is important to hire a wildlife risk management supervisor. Regulatory review and development. In addition, the position will continue to seek funding for the city’s forest workers’ projects through grants at the state and federal levels. If you live in a mountainous, forested community, it is important that individuals remain vigilant regarding community safety and fire safety in their homes.
voting meeting
During the ballot meeting, the city council adopted a provisional budget for fiscal year 2024 and resolved to accept three grants from the Arizona Department of Transportation to support airport-related projects.

Bear attack near Groom Creek
A bear attack was reported near Groom Creek last Friday. The victim was taken to a hospital in the Valley, but unfortunately did not survive. According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, “the bear has already been killed and poses no further threat to the community.”
The sheriff’s office then added, “Don’t shoot bears unless there is an imminent threat.” It’s against the law to shoot a bear unless you endanger your safety or the safety of others. “
This is a good time to remind locals to: City of Prescott Ordinance 5-3-16B“Feeding or attracting wildlife is prohibited. Any person willfully, knowingly or recklessly feeding or attracting wildlife is illegal.”
Do not leave food for wildlife including but not limited to bears, javelinas, deer, coyotes, pumas, etc. Any bait can attract predators.
I’m Mayor Phil Goode. This is a weekly update. Thank you for watching. See you next week.
