GOP candidate for Maricopa College Board could face felony charge

“I am truly grateful to the supporters and friends I have met throughout the campaign,” Kaufman said. “I will never stop fighting to defend the Constitution and the values ​​that make America the greatest nation in the world. “

The Maricopa County Elections Authority has not received a formal withdrawal statement from Kaufman. Even without a signed and notarized document, he is still a valid candidate and votes will be counted.

A spokeswoman for the department said that even if Kaufman submitted a formal retraction statement, it would be too late to remove his name from the vote.

Kaufman is a first-time candidate and Trump supporter. On his Facebook page, he promotes the lie that his 2020 election was stolen.

Kaufman worked for the Arizona Department of Corrections as a corrections officer for 27 years.

According to police reports, the arresting officer asked Kaufmann if he knew his whereabouts.
