When voters of Republican Texas Rep. Kay Granger realized she hadn’t voted in six months, local newspapers searched for her. They found her in a nursing home.
Granger’s absence added to the question She asked questions from voting hubs in Tarrant and Parker counties, Texas, about why she didn’t vote during the important ongoing resolution fight.
The Dallas Express visited Granger’s Texas office and found no one there. “The door was locked, the front glass window was covered, no one was inside, and there was no sign that the office remained occupied,” the newspaper said. I wrote.
Employees at the office park said Granger’s staff cleaned out the office and left before Thanksgiving, the newspaper reported.
They then received information that Granger was “found lost and disoriented in her former cultural district/West 7th Ward” and was living in a nursing home.
An employee of the nursing home confirmed to this newspaper, “This is her home.”

Granger, who will retire at the end of this legislative session, did not respond to calls or emails from the Express. She has not voted in Washington since July 24, 2024.
Tarrant County Republican Party Chairman Beau French criticized lawmakers for their absence at such a critical time.
“The lack of CD-12 representation is troubling, to say the least. Kay Granger’s appearance in the midst of pivotal votes on the debt ceiling, disaster relief, farm bill, border issues, etc. is nowhere to be found. The margin in Congress is razor-thin, and the lack of Republican votes to represent CD-12 disenfranchises 2 million people. We deserve better,” French told Express. spoke.
Her absence has renewed debate about age limits for elected officials, with Americans citing numerous examples of civil servants in their 80s.
Democratic California Rep. Ro Khanna called for term limits. “Kay Granger’s long absence reveals the problems with a parliament that values seniority and relationships over merit and ideas. We have a sclerotic gerontocracy,” he said on Sunday morning. I wrote it in X’s post. (Related: Suzanne Downing: The age of fathers has come in an aging society)
“We need term limits. We need to get big money out of politics so a new generation of Americans can run and serve,” Khanna concluded.
