Montana Republican Rep. Matt Rosendale plans to run for another Senate run in 2024 against weaker Democratic Sen. Jon Tester, Politico reported Friday.
Rosendale, who lost to Tester in 2018, has told lawmakers he plans to attack the senator again. The two sources spoke candidly about the conversation on condition of anonymity. Said Politico. In a statement to Politico, members of the House Liberal Party did not rule out running for the Senate, instead pointing to recent polls that suggest they are well-supported in the hypothetical Republican primary.

Republican Senators Ted Cruz (Texas) and Mike Lee (Utah) have encouraged Rosendale’s senatorial ambitions, with Cruz telling Politico that Rosendale ” “He would be a great candidate,” he said.
“I hope he does,” Lee told Politico of a potential Rosendale run. “Certainly we could use him in the Senate.”
Montana Congressman Ryan Zinke was also rumored to be running for the Republican nomination, but Politico said he would likely endorse Sheehy if he ran.
Montana, along with West Virginia, Ohio, Arizona and Wisconsin, is one of several states where Democrats hold Senate seats, and Republicans think the 2024 election is in jeopardy. Senator Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin has been characterized as Democratic-leaning. according to To Cook Political Report.
