Republican Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett disputed Democrat’s account of the altercation with conservative activists in a brief interview with the Daily Color News Foundation on Wednesday.

In a post on X, Crockett claimed that Burchet would ensure that between himself and the activist he would safely reach the committee room.

Burchett appears to be challenging Crockett’s characterization of his role during the incident, informing DCNF that he “retreated” when the conflict took place.

Republican Texas Rep. Randy Weber introduced a resolution Wednesday morning officially denounced Crockett for her comments on Abbott. The resolution is not a privilege and it is unclear whether House GOP leadership will bring the resolution to a vote on the floor.

A spokesman for the Capitol Police and Crockett did not immediately respond to DCNF’s request for comment.
