And the war continues…
Maine Governor Janet Mills has issued a response to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to allow trans athletes to compete in women’s sports.
A statement from Mills was released Wednesday through her office. time Following the announcement of the DOJ case from Attorney General Pam Bondi at a press conference that morning.
Mills’ response refers to the recent ruling of a federal judge who stopped the USDA from being allowed to freeze Maine funds to launch an investigation into launching the Department of Health and Human Services and Education for women’s sports trans-athletes and President Donald Trump. “Today is the latest expected salvo in an unprecedented campaign to pressure Maine to ignore the constitution and abandon the rule of law,” the statement reads.
“The issue never had anything to do with school sports or protection of women and girls. As it is alleged, it is defending the state’s rights and rule of law, defending the rule of law over the federal government that took on imposition of its will rather than supporting the law. Last Friday’s federal judge’s decision awards a temporary restraining order in which the federal government was acting illegally.
For almost two months, Maine has endured reclaim from the federal government targeting hungry school children, hardworking fishermen, seniors, new parents and countless federal government targets.
We were subject to politically motivated investigations that were opened and closed without discussion, and there is no doubt that their results were determined in advance. Let’s serve as a warning to all states today. Maine may have attracted federal rage in this way first, but we are not the last. ”
