State Funding Announced for Alabama Road Projects
On Friday, Governor Kay Ivey revealed that Alabama will allocate over $3.7 million in state funding to support 13 road projects across various cities and counties.
- Union Springs (Bullock Co.) – Improvements on Hardaway Avenue, Levy Avenue, and Mimosa Apartments Road.
- Valley (Chambers Co.) – Resurfacing CR-379 (Fairfax Bypass) from the Lee County line to Towel Avenue.
- Butler (Choctaw Co.) – Resurfacing Rogers Avenue (from SR-10 to the end), East Smith Street (from SR-17 to Rogers), and West Smith Street (from SR-17 to Hendricks).
- Sanford (Covington Co.) – Paving Snuffy Road.
- Glenwood (Crenshaw Co.) – Resurfacing Sawmill Street and Holmes Street; paving Carroll Street.
- Kalman (Kalman Co., Ltd.) – Completing reclamation of Graham Street SW (from Main Avenue SW to SR-69).
- Eclectic (Elmore Co.) – Resurfacing streets in seven cities.
- Fayette Co. – Resurfacing eight local streets.
- Hale County (County Project) – Resurfacing and expanding CR-29.
- Bridgeport (Jackson Co.) – Resurfacing 11 streets.
- Sweet Water (Marengo Co.) – Resurfacing Main Street (from SR-10 to Wayne Road) and 3rd Street (from SR-10 to Main Street).
- Eva (Morgan Co.) – Repairing and resurfacing Sanders Road (from Jesse Green Road).
- Randolph County (County Project) – Resurfacing CR-868 (from SR-77 to Wadley Town Limits).
This funding round marks the conclusion of the annual grant program from the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) for this year.
Governor Ivey stated, “My aim is always to support every citizen in Alabama for the long term. Whether it’s education or infrastructure, Alabama is making progress for future generations.” She emphasized that under the Alabama Reconstruction Act, the state is dedicated to meaningful investments in local roads and bridges.
According to the announcement, the cities and counties contributed over $2.4 million in matching funds for the projects. It’s noted that all funded projects must commence within a year.
Since the implementation of the Alabama Reconstruction Act, ALDOT’s annual grant program has distributed more than $70 million for local transportation projects.
