Grand Canyon National Park to begin day-use operations

PHOENIX — Grand Canyon National Park’s North Rim will open for day use starting Oct. 16.

During day use operations, the Grand canyon The lodge will be closed and overnight camping will not be available to visitors, according to a news release.

The North Rim Visitor Center will close at 5pm on October 15th, and the general store, coffee shop, and gift shop will likewise close at 11am on October 16th. The North Rim Backcountry Information Center closes for the season on October 31st.

Services available during daytime hours include a self-service gas station that only accepts credit and debit cards when State Route 67 is open, according to the release.

After October 31st, water will only be available at the North Rim Administration Building. State Route 67 entrance gates will close at sunset on Nov. 30 or after the first heavy snowfall, depending on whichever comes first.

The National Park Service is advising travelers visiting the North Rim between now and Nov. 30 to prepare for winter driving conditions on State Route 67 and throughout the country. parkbecause as winter approaches, there will be more snow, ice, and rain.
