Grand Canyon National Park’s North Rim To Close For The Season

At that point, if you’re planning a visit to the North Rim, you’ll need to be self-sufficient with everything you need. Enough food and water for one day. Grand Canyon Lodge will be closed and lodging facilities, including camping, will be unavailable to visitors.

Services available include self-service gas stations that only accept credit and debit cards as long as State Route 67 is open. After October 31st, water will be supplied only at the North Rim Administration Building. The State Route 67 entrance gate will close at sunset on November 30, 2024, or after the first major snowfall, whichever comes first.

The North Rim Scenic Road to Cape Royal will be temporarily closed at sunset from October 13th to October 18th for routine firefighting operations, while the road to Point Imperial will be closed It will remain open.

The North Rim Visitor Center, operated by the Grand Canyon Conservancy, will close at 5 p.m. on Oct. 15. The North Rim Backcountry Information Center will close for the season on October 31, 2024. The general store, coffee and gift shop closes at 5 p.m. October 16th, 11am.

Visitors to the North Rim between now and Nov. 30 should be prepared for winter driving conditions on State Route 67 and throughout the park, as snow, ice, and rain are common at this time of year. For current road conditions, call Arizona Highway Information, 1-888-411-ROAD (7623).
