Grant will connect rural Arizonans to high-speed internet

PHOENIX — Nearly $28.5 million in grants will be used to connect locals, farmers and business owners in rural Arizona to reliable, affordable high-speed internet, according to the USDA.

USDA Arizona Rural Development Director Charlene Fernandez said more than 1,900 people living in rural Arizona will benefit from the promises the Biden-Harris administration has made and kept.

“In my travels throughout Arizona, I’ve heard time and time again from rural residents that too many people lack access to high-quality, affordable, high-speed internet,” Fernandez said in a press release. said in a press release.

The Colorado River Indiana Tribe will receive a $25 million grant that will connect more than 1,900 people, 41 businesses, three farms and four educational facilities in La Paz County, according to a press release.

The remaining $3.5 million will be donated to the South Central Utah Telephone Association. The company has deployed an on-site fiber network to provide high-speed internet to 24 of her and his one farm in Coconino County.
