Great Decisions Launches New Foreign Policy Series

sedona news – Members and guests will launch the Great Decisions of 2025 program on Monday, January 27th, discussing “American Foreign Policy at a Crossroads.” The program will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Sedona Community Library, 3250 White Bear Road.

The next administration will face a world that has changed dramatically in recent years. Chaos appears to be spreading, posing challenges to U.S. leadership and the postwar world system. Many Americans have doubts about the fundamentals of postwar policy. How will the Trump administration aim for “America First”? What can be done to revive the liberal international strategy pursued since 1945? Are there alternative strategies that better serve US interests?

Discussion of these issues begins with a summary of a paper by Dr. John Eikenberry and an update on the composition of Trump’s foreign policy team. This will be followed by an open discussion moderated by Charles Blum, drawing on his career in foreign affairs and international trade policy.

Founded in 1985, the Sedona Great Decision Group is a local chapter of the Foreign Policy Association. Its monthly programs cover American foreign policy and related domestic issues of current concern to the American people. Future topics include U.S.-China relations, AI and national security, and international cooperation on climate change.

Guests are welcome, space permitting. To register for the program or request membership information, contact Blum at chblum45@yahoo.com or 301-717-4210.
