Potential Lawsuit Against Former Obama Official
On Sunday, legal analyst Greg Jarrett, appearing on Fox News, discussed a possible lawsuit involving a former official from the Obama administration’s Intelligence Bureau. He mentioned that the discovery of “deliberately hidden evidence” by the Trump administration marked a significant turning point in the ongoing Russian investigation.
The investigation has gained renewed attention ever since allegations surfaced regarding President Trump’s 2016 campaign colluding with Russia to influence the election. Reports indicate the FBI has placed former FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan under scrutiny within a criminal context. Jarrett was asked during “Sunday Morning Futures” by host Maria Bartiromo if he believed the Department of Justice (DOJ) would take action and whether the law against conspiracy was applicable in this situation.
“I’d say yes to all those points,” Jarrett stated. He characterized the situation as involving a range of serious criminal conspiracies orchestrated by officials who he described as “cautious” yet deceitful. He emphasized that there seem to be efforts to mislead the government and voters alike under the guise of legality, contributing to a broader obstruction of justice.
Jarrett highlighted investigative findings, including “burn bags” with concealed documents linked to the FBI, alongside the recently uncovered hard drive. “Hiding evidence related to the investigation is a clear obstruction. It creates new grounds for a conspiracy case and complicates matters of proof, including obstruction,” he noted.
Fox News Digital had reported earlier on July 8 that both Brennan and Comey were under criminal investigation for potential misconduct connected to the controversial Steele documents.
The investigation was triggered by CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s declassification of a review on the creation of the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment, which revealed Brennan’s attempts to include Steele-related documents despite receiving warnings against it.
Subsequent to these revelations, DNI Tulsi Gabbard declassified additional documents on July 18, underscoring claims regarding the use of Russian lawsuits against Trump during the Obama administration.
When Bartiromo inquired about the timeline for DOJ actions against these officials, Jarrett replied that more evidence needs to be collected. “While many are likely guilty, my primary concern isn’t the timeline but rather ensuring all credible evidence is compiled to present before the court,” he remarked.
A Wednesday report mentioned that FBI Director Kash Patel had unveiled a “burning bag” containing thousands of documents related to the Russian investigation. According to Fox News, one item allegedly recovered was the classified annex to John Durham’s Final Report.
