Calls for Declassification of Durham’s Report
On a recent episode of Fox Business, legal analyst Greg Jarrett emphasized the need for the complete declassification of special advisor John Durham’s report. In 2023, Durham concluded that the FBI relied on “unguaranteed intelligence” and did not uphold “strict fidelity to the law” during its investigation into Donald Trump prior to the 2016 election.
During his appearance on “Kudlow,” Jarrett expressed that the report should be made public, especially since it contains an important interview with Igor Danchenko, a key sub-source for the Steele Dossier. “Durham’s report, along with the appendix, interviewed numerous individuals, including Danchenko—a sub-source for Steele’s dubious research—so it ought to be declassified,” Jarrett remarked. He went on to suggest that Danchenko’s information stemmed from Hillary Clinton and her associates, indicating that the Clinton camp provided misleading information to him.
Jarrett pointed out that Christopher Steele began using unverified data even when he was aware of its questionable origins. “He passes this along to Steele, who completely runs with it. It’s all garbage. Steele was effectively triple-dipping, being compensated by the Hillary Campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and the FBI,” he added.
Jarrett criticized the media for not taking the time to critically analyze the report, despite its clear flaws. “It’s amusing. I couldn’t help but laugh. It reads like it’s from a middle school detective who lacks talent. It’s all nonsense. Still, the media didn’t bother to scrutinize something that’s actually simple to digest,” he stated. “If that’s the case, they might just be the most clever people around.”
The documents authored by Steele were central to the FBI’s probe into alleged collusion regarding President Trump’s first election campaign back in 2016. Danchenko, a Russian-born analyst based in the U.S., served as the primary source for Steele’s controversial documents concerning Trump and his campaign.
Danchenko was identified as a source for these documents in 2020 after users on X pieced together clues from an edited FBI memo, revealing his role as a “facilitator” in 2022 and detailing his educational background.
