Gulf Shores State Park held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for new cabins unveiled on Lake Shelby as part of an $8.8 million project that has been ongoing since 2020's Hurricane Sally.
Seventeen buildings damaged in the storm have been replaced with 20 new, more modern lakefront cabins. Outdoor Alabama.
All 20 cabins are located right on the lake, feature modern furnishings, appliances, screened porches and can sleep up to eight guests.

“We're pleased to be able to continue to work with the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources,” said Chris Blankenship, director of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
“We are committed to providing a first-class experience for our guests at all of our state parks, and these incredible cabins definitely deliver on that promise. It's rewarding to see these cabins looking more beautiful than ever.”
The park already has 10 cabins, and a total of 30 will be available.
“Gulf State Park is one of our region's top attractions, and these projects demonstrate the Alabama State Parks system's deep commitment to Alabama's Gulf Coast,” said Gulf Shores Mayor Robert Craft. “It's great to have such great partners who are helping to enhance our area by improving and expanding services for visitors from near and far.”
