Gulf Shores to hold national event for Jimmy Buffett fans in October

Gulf Coast to Host Parrotheads Annual Meetup

From October 22nd to 26th, the Gulf Coast Region will transform into a lively Margaritaville, celebrating the 33rd Annual National Conference of Fans of Jimmy Buffett.

This year’s gathering, titled “Interest in the Heart,” aims to pay tribute to the beloved artist who passed away on September 1, 2023. Attendees will immerse themselves in Buffett’s diverse music catalog, don their favorite parrot head attire, sip on margaritas and other tropical cocktails, and enjoy classic Buffett dishes like the famous cheeseburger in paradise.

Participants, who are members of local parrot head clubs nationwide, must register by midnight on September 15th. If they’re not already club members, there’s an option to join the virtual parrot head club instantly.

The registration fee is set at $229, and the event will feature various entertainment venues scattered along the Alabama Gulf Coast. Updated venue information can be found on the conference website.

Among the artists slated to perform at MOTM 2025 are Joe Downing, Jerry Diaz, El Wencho, and many others. The event has previously been held in New Orleans and Key West but has now settled in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Why the Gulf Coast? Well, Jimmy Buffett was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and moved to Mobile, Alabama, at a young age. Growing up in Mobile, he honed his musical talent and eventually found a launching pad for his career at a local bar known as Admiral’s Horn.

Alabama held a special place in Buffett’s heart, as it was where he often returned. His family spent their later years in Baldwin County, which adds a sentimental value to this gathering.

Lucy Buffett, Jimmy’s sister, runs a popular restaurant called Lulu’s on the Gulf Coast, famous for its paradise cheeseburgers. Expect a bustling crowd during the event, as attendees flock to savor the flavors that celebrate their idol.

As the event approaches, the anticipation grows, and who wouldn’t want to chase a cheeseburger in paradise? From October 22nd to 26th, the Gulf Coast of Alabama will definitely be alive with the spirit of Buffett.
