Flagstaff Officials Report Unfounded Armed Threat at NAU
Flagstaff – Officials have confirmed that reports of armed individuals at Northern Arizona University (NAU) are unfounded, announced late Monday morning.
Before 9:30 a.m., students at NAU were alerted regarding potential armed individuals at Klein Library on Knoles Drive. The communication suggested it could turn into a serious situation, leading NAU police to take immediate evacuation measures.
Students were cleared from the library while law enforcement searched the premises, but no signs of an armed suspect were found. The building reopened shortly before noon.
Meanwhile, all other campus activities and operations proceeded as normal.
The university shared a statement on social media:
Today, the NAU Police Station received a report of a person carrying a gun at Klein Library on the Flagstaff Mountain Campus. The report was deemed a hoax, and there was no active threat to the NAU community.
This incident marks the second such report on Monday. Police also responded to an active shooter report at the University of Arkansas Library in Fayetteville, Arkansas, but similarly found no evidence of a threat.
Additionally, last week, false reports of active shooters surfaced at Villanova University and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, both of which were later confirmed as hoaxes.
