YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY-TV) – A strong weather system is bringing gusty winds and dusty conditions to Valentine’s Day.
Wednesday and Thursday mornings are expected to be well below normal, with a gradual warmer trend early next week.
The system also brings the chance of precipitation, and even a thunderstorm later tonight
A High Wind Advisory is in effect for Yuma County until 11:00 PM MST tonight.
A high wind warning is in effect for the southwestern edge of Imperial County and the Imperial Valley until 7:00 PM PST tonight.
Strong westerly winds continue into the evening with wind speeds of 20-30 MPH and maximum gusts of 40-50 MPH.
Lighter winds tonight/tomorrow, but the wind direction will change slightly to the north/northwest, with maximum gusts of 25-30 MPH.
Such strong wind gusts create dangerous driving conditions and dusty areas.
The Imperial County APCD issued an Air Quality Warning today, February 14, due to increased particulate matter from dust spray.
