An Arizona man who beat and killed an elderly woman because his television was too loud has been sentenced to 60 years in prison by a judge, authorities announced in a press release.
Dmitri G. Rogachev, 46, a former live-in caregiver, was sentenced to 75 years in prison for the murder of 75-year-old Sandra Jackson. according to The sentence was handed down by 10th Judicial Circuit Judge John Vespa after a Peoria County jury found Rogachev guilty of first-degree murder.

Rogachev attacked Jackson at his home in December 2019 after becoming frustrated with the loud volume of his television. During the argument, Rogachev fatally punched and kicked Jackson, causing severe head injuries that led to his death, the news release said. On the night of the murder, authorities were alerted to a 911 call reporting an unconscious woman at Jackson's home around 2:30 a.m. Rogachev initially told responding officers that Jackson had mixed alcohol with prescription drugs to cause his condition. authorities He said in a press release.

However, this testimony was contradicted during the trial. Medical evidence presented by an emergency room doctor and a forensic pathologist confirmed that there was no alcohol in Jackson's system and that his injuries were not the result of a fall, as Rogachev had claimed, the news release added.
The autopsy report detailed Jackson's injuries, including blows to both sides of the head that caused bleeding and pressure on the brain. Those findings played a key role in the trial and supported the jury's decision to convict Rogachev, according to the news release.
“Rogachev was annoyed that Sandra had the TV turned up too loud,” the prosecutor said, according to Law & Crime. report“During an argument about a noise, Rogachev became enraged and punched and kicked Sandra, ultimately causing fatal brain injuries.”
