Hamas on Sunday aired a video showing three Israeli hostages it is holding in Gaza, Reuters reported.
The hostages, identified as 26-year-old Noa Al-Ghamani, 53-year-old Yossi Sharabian, and 38-year-old Itai Subirsky, call on the Israeli government to halt attacks on Hamas and ensure their release.37 It is shown in the second video. , according to Reuters. The video ended with the message, “Tomorrow, we will let you know their fate.”
Hamas previously said it had lost contact with some of the hostages during Israeli artillery shelling in the Gaza Strip, raising concerns that the hostages may have been killed during the attack. Hamas had previously threatened to execute hostages in retaliation for Israeli military attacks at the start of the war.
Hagar Mizrahi, a forensic official at Israel's Health Ministry, refuted Hamas' claims that some of the hostages died in the airstrike, citing autopsy results that contradicted these claims. Nevertheless, Israel acknowledges the risks to hostages from military operations. “Military operations take time.'' According to Reuters, Israel's military chief spokesperson, Major General Daniel Hagari, said in a statement: “We are obligated to be accurate and we are on the ground with the threat.'' “We adapt it depending on the hostage.”
Approximately 240 people have been detained by Hamas since the outbreak of the war, sparked by a Hamas cross-border attack on October 7, Reuters noted. About half of these hostages were released in the November ceasefire, but Israel reports that 132 remained in Gaza, 25 of whom died in captivity.
