Sheriff Doug Schuster said, “We just want to emphasize how proud we are of Deputy Commissioner Tresher. ‘That’s just right. Chuck, you’ve earned it. Congratulations. .”
Sheriff Schuster has won the same award twice during his previous service as Deputy Commissioner and Sergeant, and was named National Boat Officer of the Year in 2010. The Colorado River is one of the busiest waterways in the state.
“The reason people keep coming to these areas is because they feel safe,” Schuster said. “They feel safe because of men like Chuck and the boat department and volunteers on the boat.”
Mr. Trescher said he was uncomfortable being presented with an award that he said was an actual achievement by a fellow officer he recognized in the conference audience.
“It’s hard to accept this because it’s a team,” Trescher said. It must have been.”
Rodriguez said he will nominate Tresher as a regional boating officer to represent Arizona.
