A Lake Havasu City man was arrested earlier this month after police say he approached a vehicle on foot, reached inside the driver's side window and stabbed the driver.
On February 7th, police were called to the intersection of Oro Grande Boulevard and Oro Grande Lane in reference to a stabbing. According to a police report, officers found the victim's vehicle at the scene with its hazard lights flashing. The victim was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and was holding his left arm. The victim identified the assailant at the scene as 55-year-old Troy D. Gilbert.
Police said the victim was stabbed in the left triceps.
According to the police report, the victim left her home and saw Gilbert approach her window. The victim stopped the vehicle briefly and then drove forward a short distance. Police say when the victim stopped the car again, Gilbert reached into the car and stabbed the victim in the arm. Gilbert then allegedly destroyed the victim's driver's side mirror and fled the scene.
Police said the victim got out of the car and chased Gilbert until he reached a vacant lot near a washroom. The victim lost sight of Gilbert and immediately called police, according to the report.
The victim gave a statement to police and was taken to Havasu Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
Officers set up a perimeter nearby and spent two hours searching for Gilbert, using drones and other technology. Police said Gilbert eventually approached officers, turned himself in, and was taken into custody.
Police said Gilbert was also injured at the time, and he was taken to Havasu Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Gilbert was ultimately charged with felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct with a weapon.
Gilbert was released on $25,000 bail on Feb. 12, according to court records.
