A Lake Havasu man has been sent to the Arizona Department of Corrections for an extended stay after having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl at work. Neil Ferrara, 25, was found guilty of having sex with a minor on Wednesday at the end of a two-day trial in Kingman.
A Mojave County Superior Court jury deliberated for about two hours before reaching a guilty verdict at the Center for Law and Justice.
Mojave County Deputy Attorney Amanda Clairhaut told the jury that Ferrara and the minor victim had worked together at a Lake Havasu business on the 1400 block of Dover Avenue, and that other employees had been working with Ferrara that day. He said he left behind a 14-year-old girl. We will be closed on October 7, 2021.
Krehaut said employees from another company visited the Dover store and found Ferrara and the boy having sex. Clairhaut said the woman was able to recognize and identify both parties, but she walked out of the store so quickly that she didn’t think both parties were unaware they had been caught in the act.
Attorney Virginia Cruz countered that Ferrara had always denied having sex with girls. And Cruz said the alleged victim denied the act during police interrogation, remained in denial for more than 600 days, and changed her story days before the trial, she said.
Clairhaut said the victim continued to tell lies because she feared the truth would create difficulties for her family and school environment. She said Ferrara could be sentenced to 13 to 20 years in prison when sentencing by Judge Billy Sipe on July 11.
