Hazardous waste facility meeting canceled

The meeting was originally scheduled for July 13th.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – A public meeting scheduled to be hosted by hazardous waste company Sidcol to inform the community about a special permit for Yuma’s hazardous waste facility has been canceled.

Plans to expand the hazardous waste treatment near farmland just a block away from the Yuma Palms mall have raised many eyebrows.

Sidcor’s facilities are ready for hazardous waste treatment and storage.

Applicant’s symbol is an environmental services facility that provides economically and technologically innovative hazardous waste and non-hazardous waste management services to the states of California and Arizona.

After much back-and-forth, the Planning and Zoning Commission approved a special use permit for Sidcor’s hazardous waste facility in April 2023.

A final decision on special use permits will be made at the Yuma County Board of Supervisors meeting on August 7.
