“He was very smooth,” said Bill Mulvey, a Republican who thought Vance won the debate. Harris-Waltz supporter Aric Davis, who thought Walz won, agreed about Vance but noted that Walz provided what he thought were more substantive answers to the moderator's questions. “I'm grateful,” he told Duncan.
Max Battle, a former supporter of President Donald Trump who thought Vance had won, shared his views on immigration with Duncan and criticized President Joe Biden and Harris' policies.
“There are people who want to come here in search of a better life, and there are legal and proper ways to do it, and they need to be followed. Be prepared to be turned away if you try to enter the country illegally. “We should keep it,” Battle said. “What we're in is a mess because over the last four years we've had so much immigration, families coming here, kids being born here, so what do we do? ”
Ellie Barkey, a voter who was leaning toward Harris before the debate, seemed to confirm with Duncan that she was more likely to vote for Trump and Vance after the debate.
“I really liked how Vance said he was pro-family, but not necessarily pro-life or pro-choice. That was pro-family, so I really appreciate that. And , I think a lot of things need to be taken into account when we talk about abortion,” she said. “There are a lot of things to consider. At any stage of pregnancy, there are a lot of medical factors that come into play. So it's hard for me to decide on that because I don't know what his opinion is. , or what their opinion would be, I don't think there was a clear answer yet. But I liked his view that it was more pro-family.”
Walz made several gaffes during the debate. CNN coverage It was revealed that he had falsely claimed to have been in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen massacre. He also claimed to be “friends with the school shooter” while answering questions about gun control.
CBS News” public opinion poll It turns out that debate viewers are almost evenly divided on who won the debate. Harris currently leads Trump by 1.4 percentage points in Michigan. According to to the average of RealClearPolling.
