Head-on crash near Eloy sends 3 people to hospital

A patient had to be extricated from the vehicle by firefighters after a head-on crash near Highway 87 and Arica Road.

ELOY, Ariz. — Three people with serious injuries were airlifted to the hospital after being involved in a head-on crash in Pinal County, officials said.

Eloy Fire District The crash occurred Wednesday afternoon near Highway 87 and Arica Road, not far from the Red Rock Correctional Center, according to .

Firefighters used hydraulic tools to extricate the patient from the wrecked vehicle. The patient was transported to a trauma center for treatment of life-threatening injuries, according to the fire district.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

“There is always room for improvement when it comes to road safety,” the ministry said on its website.

ADOT's proposals include:

  • Do not speed or drive recklessly
  • Never drive under the influence of substances
  • Avoid distractions while driving
  • Wear your seat belt and make sure all passengers do the same
  • If an emergency vehicle is on the side of the road, please move to the side.
  • Be especially careful in work zones
  • Be prepared for weather conditions that make driving dangerous
