Health Department’s Contreras honored for work on women’s health

SAFORD — Graham County Health Department employees received an award for their leadership in supporting women in rural areas.

Rosa Contreras, health program coordinator for the Department of Health, was named an emerging leader in rural women’s health by the Arizona Alliance for Community Health Centers and the Arizona Women’s Health Network.

Contreras said in an email. Thank you very much for this opportunity and nomination. This really means a lot to me. ”

She will be honored at the Regional Women’s Health Symposium on August 17-18 at the Prescott Resort and Conference Center.

Other awards received include:

● Outstanding Achievement in Rural Women’s Health — Amanda Guay, Regional Health Director, North Country Health Care, Flagstaff

● Innovative Approaches to Rural Women’s Health — Natividad Kano, Substance Abuse Counselor at The Haven in Tucson

● Rural Women’s Health Practitioner of the Year — Prescott Obstetrician and Gynecologist Dr. Josephine Kim
