‘Heartless Figure’: Far-Left Editor Criticized For Attacking JD Vance’s Children On The Platform Favored By Liberals

Criticism of Mother Jones Editor Over Vice President’s Children

On Tuesday, conservatives expressed their disapproval of Clara Jeffrey, the editor-in-chief of Mother Jones, after she suggested that Vice President JD Vance’s children should publicly challenge President Donald Trump’s extensive deportation policy on social media.

In a post on the social media platform BlueSky, Jeffrey mentioned that Vance’s children being booed at Disneyland illustrated lessons about their father’s actions. She also incorrectly mentioned that illegal immigrant children could be sent to “Graggs.” This led to significant backlash on social media.

Donald Trump Jr. reacted by questioning, “WTF is wrong with these people?” in a post on X, while Republican strategist Andrew Surabian labeled Jeffrey a “Soulless Ghoul.”

Surabian commented, “Think about the kind of soulless ghoul you must be to say something like this… Just picture being the editor of Mother Jones.” Vance’s family recently faced angry protests outside their hotel, where demonstrators voiced their opposition to the administration’s immigration policies.

Jeffrey further criticized Vance for taking his children to Disneyland, suggesting it was all about the “optics.” She claimed that it was troubling for Vance’s children to be booed while families were “shipped to Gulags,” adding, “Other kids are watching this happen.” She implied that Vance was somehow benefiting from the negative attention aimed at his family.

Other users on BlueSky found humor in the distress Vance’s children were experiencing, with Jeffrey responding to former Democratic Congressional candidate Shannon Fresh by accusing Vance of using his daughter as a “human shield” during encounters with protesters earlier this year.

Michael Hobbes, a former reporter for the Huffington Post, stated that children should be taught early on about their father’s controversial views. Vance’s children are ages 8, 5, and 3. In March, during a protest, concerns were raised about Vance’s daughter, Mirabel, who appeared frightened. The Vice President criticized the protesters for causing discomfort to his young daughter.
