I'm not going to lie…despite these two championships, this hurts as a Heat fan.
When it comes to the best teams in NBA history, the Miami Heat's big three (LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh) always come up.
But in 2011, they were about to be joined by another superstar who would create that flashy Big Four: Chris Paul. (Related: Purple cowboy suits, emo hair and country music: Miami Heat's Jimmy Butler is clearly having the time of his life)
Miami legend Dwyane Wade talks about “The Why with Dwyane Wade” podcast, Wade revealed why Paul wasn't traded to the Heat in the end — and it's just plain stupid. That's because Wade didn't want to let go of number 3, and Paul also didn't want to withdraw from the CP3 brand. Unit 3 was later retired. 2020 Written by Miami.
“We were talking about coming to Miami. We were talking about who would get the ball and how it would work,” Paul said. “So who was it? I think it was CJ. [Paul’s brother] Who said anything about who wears number 3? ”
And my jaw just kept dropping from there.

Chris Paul revealed that he was almost traded to Miami to team up with LeBron and D-Wade, but the trade never happened because D-Wade didn't want to let go of his No. 3.

The big three of LeBron, Wade, and Bosh brought the Miami Heat two championships in four years…and you added Chris Paul to that team. And we're talking about a 4-on-4 win, if not this one.
I can't believe what was supposed to be the greatest dynasty of all time was ruined by jersey numbers. It's a shame.
