Helicopter swoops in to rescue stranded hiker in freezing Arizona mountains

Tucson, Arizona –Last week, a stranded hiker was rescued from the snowy Huachuca Mountains south of Sierra Vista, Arizona.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was looking for an Australian national who was stranded in a mountainous area with freezing temperatures last Thursday.

Officials sought help from U.S. Customs and Border Protection air and marine crews when weather conditions permitted their arrival. Early the next morning, the Tucson Air Branch dispatched the crew of his UH-60 to the location.

“Without the diligence of the agents, this could have had tragic fatal consequences.”
