Hideki Matsuyama Claims Victory At FedEx St. Jude Championship Without Caddie Or Coach

From an Olympic bronze medal to this…it's commendable.

Golfers are highly individualistic in the world of sports, but that being said, it helps a little to have at least a caddie by their side while they're on the course, and golfers often also have a coach with them to provide additional encouragement throughout the four-day event.

But, um… Hideki MatsuyamaAt the FedEx St. Jude Championship, he had neither and still managed to win the tournament. (Related: Father and son duo become legend after catching lemon shark and sawfish at the same time off the coast of Port Canaveral)

Recently, all three Matsuyama's team had been robbed in London, and his coach and caddie didn't have passports, so they had to fly back to Japan while Matsuyama himself traveled to Memphis, Tennessee, to play in the tournament.

Matsuyama had a rough day on Sunday in the final round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship, nearly losing a five-stroke lead, but he held on to post a final score of -17 and consecutive birdies to win the tournament.

Hideki Matsuyama has earned a lot of cool points from me over the past few weeks.

Like I said, going from a bronze medal to St. Jude's is pretty amazing.
