HIGH COUNTRY RUNNING: Welcome to: Team Run Flagstaff

On Tuesday evening, when you pass Coconino High School’s track field, you’ll meet a remarkable group of people who are coming together not just to run, but to make meaningful connections.

Welcome to Team Run Flagstaff, or “TRF”: a community of over 300 runners of all levels who thrive in a healthy, positive and safe environment.

Founded in 2010, TRF’s success is driven by some of Flagstaff’s greatest talents, including Mike Smith, director of Northern Arizona University’s cross-country and track teams, and Vince Shelley, owner of Run Flagstaff and Run Sedona. Thanks to two running promoters. With the support of local athlete coaches, they built an uplifting and encouraging community.

Team Run Flagstaff is the perfect blend of support, education, motivation, and well-timed jokes (thanks to Coach Mike!) at every practice session.

Our group is made up of everyone from first-time runners to experienced athletes who have been running for over 50 years.

Professional runners also participate. There aren’t many groups that can join someone’s first run or pace hot laps with professional runners on the same night.

We always have good training, but the meaningful social connections and the non-judgmental atmosphere make TRF great.

I asked the members, “Why did you join the company?” And the most common answer concerned the social aspects of running with others.

We believe that uniting runners is the driving force behind this group.

Memberships are affordable, with annual plans as low as $10 per month. We offer flexible membership terms, including daily, monthly and annual options, as well as discounted rates for additional family members, students and children under the age of 18.

Our goal is to keep you on track and provide the best training from the best coaches in the world.

With practice you can expect:

Practices are held every Tuesday night from 6:00 p.m. at Coconino High School’s track and field stadium from spring through fall. Winter training starts at 6pm at NAU’s Walkup Skydome.

Each night we start with a quick rundown of our workouts to give our runners an understanding of what we’re doing and why we’re doing it. A short warm-up period follows, followed by dynamic drills to keep your body flexible for the more challenging parts of your workout.

The main segment contains a series of carefully chosen intervals of varying pace and intensity and lasts approximately 30 minutes.

Finally, before you say goodbye, there will be a short cooldown period to ensure a smooth transition.

Join a strong community of runners where community meets our love of running. If you want to learn more about Team Run Flagstaff, visit our website or stop by the Coconino High School track and chat.

If you have time this Tuesday night, lace up your running shoes and come run with us with enthusiasm!
