Hitachi plans to grow its manufacturing facility in West Tennessee and add 100 new employees.

Hitachi Energy is set to grow its manufacturing base in Alamo, Tennessee, with a hefty investment of $97 million and plans to hire 100 new employees.

The expansion, which was announced on Wednesday, will take place in Crockett County and aims to boost the company’s production of transformer components. With the addition of these jobs, Hitachi Energy will become the second-largest employer in the area, which has a population of around 14,000.

As noted by the Tennessee Department of Economic Community Development, Hitachi Energy is among over 200 Japanese companies operating within the state.

Details about any incentives related to this investment have not yet been disclosed by the state development agency.

Governor Bill Lee expressed gratitude towards the local leaders in Crockett County and Alamo for their support in facilitating this expansion, emphasizing it as a significant investment in rural Tennessee.

Steve McKinney, who leads the Transformers division at Hitachi Energy in North America, referred to the announcement as a step toward strengthening America’s energy infrastructure. He highlighted their commitment not only to improving service to customers domestically and globally but also to the local community in Crockett County. McKinney stated that the facility plays an essential role in addressing the increasing energy demand driven by AI and modernizing the electrical grid, marking a proud moment for expanding operations in Tennessee and bolstering domestic manufacturing.
