“It was instantaneous, it was violent,” O’Leary said in an interview with Komo News. “I saw the slices on the windshield, so I got the idea that something came and hit me, and I was covered in glass.”

“I’m happy that it’s me and not a passenger,” he continued. “I kept the girls safe. That’s what the bus driver does – transport students safely – and I did that. I wasn’t injured either of them. I’m very happy about that.”

The bus driver was taken to hospital and treated for fragments of glass hit his face and serious bruises on his chest, the outlet reported.

“I thought it was okay, he told Como.

The Washington State Patrol told Komo News it has yet to determine the origin of the metal fragments.
