For football enthusiasts, today shapes up to be one of the most exciting days of the year as we gear up for the NFL Draft, set to take place in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
The SEC has built quite a reputation for producing numerous first-round picks, with 11 players selected last year alone and another 15 in 2020. However, the Alabama Crimson Tide stands out among all programs when it comes to first-round selections.
This year might not match their record-breaking six first-round picks from 2021, but at least three players from Alabama seem to have a solid shot at getting picked early.
Here’s how these players stack up based on their chances:
Jihaad Campbell, Linebacker: 80% chance
This season, Campbell has emerged as a dominant linebacker under Nick Saban. Although the league has shifted away from prioritizing traditional inside linebackers like him, it would be a surprise if he doesn’t get selected in the first round.
There’s a chance he may end up being chosen in the teens.
Tyler Booker, Guard: 70% chance
Last season, Booker was arguably the top guard in college football and was projected to get drafted somewhere in the 20s. However, despite his talent, similar to Campbell, he’s somewhat limited by his position’s perceived value. Guards, typically, don’t get picked as high as tackles, even though Booker has the potential to be an All-Pro.
But it’s quite possible a playoff contender in the 20s could use someone like Booker to boost their offensive line.
Jalen Milroe, Quarterback: 40% chance
After facing challenges with consistency as a passer in the past two seasons, Milroe somehow captures the attention of NFL teams, largely due to his physical attributes. He possesses more impressive traits than many in this draft class, especially his mobility.
While teams seem intrigued by his potential ceiling as a passer, it’s likely he ends up in the second or third round. Still, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him sneak into the first round if a team feels he’s worth the gamble.
