GOLDEN VALLEY – Mohave County Sheriff’s Office detectives, with assistance from Othram Inc., have positively identified a previously reported missing person as Brian Crain, 56, of Golden Valley.
Using advanced DNA testing and forensic-grade genome sequencing, Othram Inc. was able to identify the human remains as belonging to Crain, according to a MCSO press release on Sept. 17, 2020. , Crane was reported missing by his family after they did not hear from him weeks later.
A human remains was found by a citizen on January 18, 2021 in the area of Dewey Road and Agua Fria Drive in Golden Valley. The remains were collected and transferred to the Mojave County coroner’s office, but the victims could not be identified.
On February 21, 2023, Special Investigation Unit detectives contacted Othram Inc. requesting assistance. A DNA sample was submitted to him to conduct a genetic pedigree study, resulting in a positive identification. An official cause of death could not be determined due to the condition in which the body was found.
