Empty Shelter Event in Sedona
SEDONA, Arizona – The Bissell Pet Foundation, a nonprofit focused on tackling pet homelessness, is once again calling for nationwide participation in its empty shelter event, scheduled for July 5-19, 2025.
The Humane Society of Sedona (HSS) will take part in this initiative at 2115 Shelby Drive in West Sedona during the same dates. They plan to sponsor adoption fees for over 20 unique animals that need homes. Additionally, HSS will organize “Open Adoption Event” weekends, allowing prospective adopters to meet the animals without the need for advanced appointments.
“Shelters all over are nearing their limits,” said an HSS representative. “They are experiencing record intakes with little space available. It’s a shame that so many loving, healthy pets are at risk. Our community plays a vital role in changing this situation. These summer empty shelters aren’t just about adoption; they’re a crucial step in supporting local shelters and offer a chance for a new life for both the pets and their new families.”
Details for the Empty Shelter Recruitment Events:
- Location: HSS at 2115 Shelby Drive, Sedona, Arizona, from July 5-19.
- Adoption fees waived or sponsored for over 20 animals throughout the two weeks.

Since its inception in 2016, the Shelters program has assisted over 324,000 pets in finding loving homes, making it the largest funding initiative in the country. The program collaborates with over 815 animal welfare organizations across 49 states and Canada.
