Yuma, AZ (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma Humanitarian Association hosted a 5K Run For Their Lives event at the shelter.
Start running at 10am. There was also an Easter egg hunt, vendor food available to attendees, and raffle prizes.
Not only that, KYMA’s Jessica McClain also joined the run. This is Humane Her Society’s first 5K run, and we asked how it all came about.
“We really want people to come to Humane Society. We want you to come. It’s our animals. We love it when people walk through our shelters, even if they’re not here for adoption or foster care. It’s really good to see faces. It’s really great to see the community get involved in something else,” said Susan Sternitzke, director of development at the Yuma Humane Society.
In addition, the Humane Society prepared cat and dog treats and encouraged participants to go inside the shelter and give each cat or dog a treat. There was also the chance to take a photo, share it on social media, and win a prize.
Having scored his first 5K run, Sternitzke hopes to do more 5K runs in the future.
