Hundreds of immigrants who crossed the border illegally were released in Arizona’s border cities without undergoing full formalities, according to a new report.
According to the Daily Mail, hundreds of immigrants was released Mayor Douglas Nichols reportedly entered Yuma, Arizona, on Friday after he said immigrants who had been “vetted” but not fully processed would be released from detention. The paper reported that 140 were unloaded at a public security training facility in Yuma and transported to Phoenix, while another 140 were released at two other locations, including another in Yuma and one in San Luis.
“This situation is de-escalating and the federal government is relying on local and state governments to do their jobs,” said Yuma County Superintendent Jonathan Lines. “It’s yet another failure of the Biden administration to address the problems it created with its open-border policy.”
The release comes after a record number of immigrants entered the United States from Mexico, Border Patrol said.
“Border Patrol reports that they have set a record of 83,000 immigrants crossing the border illegally this week alone. It’s the equivalent of a football stadium crossing the border in a week,” said Fox News correspondent Bill Melzin.
The record arrivals come amid the end of the Trump administration’s “Title 42” immigration policy, which allows immigrants to return due to coronavirus concerns. Anticipating the end of the pandemic, up to 700,000 people, many of them from Central America, were waiting at the border to enter the country.

Nichols said on Thursday that those released were at least being processed and none were criminals.
“These people are under scrutiny, at least to the point where Border Patrol will issue notices to submit documents wherever they live in the country,” he said. “I ask the public to remain calm. No one has been convicted and released with these symptoms.”
republican mayor called President Joe Biden is declaring a national emergency at the border in preparation for the expiration of Title 42. More than 114,000 have migrated to some part of the Yuma area this year, including many single adults.
Biden, who has been widely criticized for his handling of the border issue, is reportedly spending his weekends at his beach home in Delaware. protected Taxpayers will pay to build the wall because immigration officials will be working to address the illegal immigration crisis.
