‘I Am Profoundly Disturbed’: Sunny Hostin Spends Over 2 Minutes Emotionally Lamenting Trump’s Victory

“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin emotionally lamented President-elect Donald Trump’s landslide victory Wednesday after the 2024 election.

Trump won the 2024 election on Wednesday morning, securing 277 electoral votes with some states still to be counted, giving him a landslide victory over Vice President Kamala Harris. Hostin lamented the president-elect’s victory, saying he will harm seniors, disenfranchise women and gain “nearly unlimited power.”

Ms Hostin said she was “very upset”. “If you look at the New York Times this morning, I think the headline was “America Makes Dangerous Choices.” I don’t think we knew what we were going to get from the Trump administration in 2016, but now we do. And we now know that he will have almost unlimited power. So I’m not worried about myself, in fact, about my position in life. I don’t. I worry about the working class, I worry about my mother, a retired teacher, and I worry about the future of my children, especially my daughter. Now I have fewer rights than I do… So, again, I’m happy that the 14th Amendment did not prevent someone who participated in the rebellion from becoming President of the United States. I’m very upset.”

“Going forward, I think we need to get rid of the convicted felon box on employment applications, because if you can be president of the United States, you shouldn’t be barred from employment in this country. I remember applying for my job, and I was a federal prosecutor, and there was a box for convicted felons, so I’d better take that box off,” Hostin continued.

Both Colorado and Maine have withdrawn from state ballots in December Republican primaries, citing Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which bars elected officials from holding public office in the event of an insurrection. They tried to get rid of Trump. The Supreme Court unanimously ruled that Trump could not be excluded from Colorado’s vote, saying it was the role of Congress, not the states, to hold insurgent federal officials accountable. Hostin also expressed concern that President Trump would carry out mass deportations, build so-called “concentration camps” for illegal immigrants, and increase the national debt through economic policies. She also blamed Harris’ defeat on voters’ “cultural resentment” at the idea of a mixed-race woman becoming president.

“I’m surprised, but not surprised by this result. As a woman of color, I was very excited to see a mixed-race woman married to a Jewish man elected president of this country. “I don’t think it had anything to do with policy. I think it was a referendum on cultural resentment in this country,” Hostin said.

Co-host Ana Navarro said she was “disappointed” by Trump’s victory and called on Americans to stand up against “abuses of power.”
