‘I Didn’t Watch A Single Second’: ‘The View’ Co-Hosts Struggle To Comprehend Trump’s Return To Power

The co-hosts of “The View” clearly had a hard time understanding President Donald Trump’s return to the Oval Office Tuesday.

At the start of the segment, the co-hosts could barely bring themselves to mention that Trump had been sworn in as the 47th president the day before, but co-host Ana Navarro said that today, Martin Luther King・Declared it was Junior’s Day. Navarro and co-host Sunny Hostin admitted they did not watch the inauguration or the president’s speech.

Joy Behar said she watched the entire speech and sarcastically claimed she enjoyed some of what she suggested was a painful experience.

“What better way to unify a country than by tearing families apart and punishing those who don’t comply? So, I have a kind of self-deprecating streak, so I saw it all.” said Behar. (Related: ‘The View’ co-host criticizes Biden’s last-minute family pardons, clearly irritated by fellow panelists)

“I only watched the speeches. A lot of the festivities were hard because this is not the person I voted for, so I didn’t feel like sitting and watching,” said co-host Sarah. Haynes said. “But the speech itself, I remember when it was given, my first reaction was, you know, ‘What is this country he speaks of?’ Because I couldn’t immediately match how I saw the country and the people and what it was now and where he saw it. He didn’t say genocide, but he said almost genocide about everything else…I just felt a dark feeling, and he said some kind of martyr-like word. He said, “You are so oppressed that you are almost irredeemable.” It’s like a complex without the qualifications of Jesus who had this God. ”

Haines and Behar said Trump’s failure to say positive words about former President Joe Biden’s administration was “callous.”

“I decided to protect it,” Hostin said. [her] He celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day, called for peace without watching the inauguration, and called the president a “DEI hireling.”

“You’re talking about a man who didn’t become president of the United States by merit. He had no political experience, no business experience. He was given everything he had. He’s a legacy hire, he’s a DEI hire, he’s an ‘unearned’ hire,” Hostin said.

Navarro said he will pray for the United States as President Trump returns to power.

“I was in Guatemala. I was there for a funeral and it was a reminder of how fragile life is and something that brings no joy and infuriates, like watching his oath. It reminded me not to waste time,” Navarro said. “So I didn’t watch it for a second. I read the speech, I read a lot about it, I looked at the pictures. And as I read the speech on my way home, I said, first of all, for America. Pray. He also calls himself a pacifist. He wants to invade Panama, guys!

Co-host Alyssa Farrah Griffin also said that everyone must accept that President Trump has been “normalized” and is part of American history.
